The TURN Festival is an outgrowth of Paramount's community focus, farms, and agro-ecology programs. Held on the grounds of one of the Paramount Schools of Excellence farms, the 2-day event is packed with workshops, hands-on demonstrations, exhibits, competitions, children’s activities, live music, food, and fun!
Paramount Brookside is fortunate to have a 5.5-acre site that has developed into a working farm complete, with six goats, 21 chickens, and a four-hive apiary. The farm is an integral part of the extension of school curriculum and offers Paramount students a multitude of unique learning opportunities. It serves as an outdoor learning classroom for students throughout the school year and for Paramount’s summer STEAM (Success Through Education Agriculture and Mentoring) program.
The 1st day of each annual TURN Festival is an action-packed fall Saturday focused on urban farming, food, health, and the environment. TURN Festival attendees will find sessions on urban farming, beekeeping, family gardening, food preservation, healthy cooking, yoga, and cycling. Junior Chefs (age 12-17) will compete in their own Perfect Bite Championships from 2-4 PM. Families will enjoy local food, and family-friendly games.
The 2nd day of the festival features the annual Perfect Bite Championships where 20 of the region's best chefs will compete to make the perfect culinary bite. For more information on the competition, click here.
Frequently check out the Exhibitor and Activities tabs as vendors and workshops continue to be added as the festival date grows closer..
